Agriculture Minister returns from successful six-day tour of three Dzongkhags

The Hon’ble Lyonpo Yeshey Dorji, Minister of Agriculture and Forests returned after a successful tour of three Dzongkhags, from 29 October to 3 November 2015. Accompanied by officials from Department of Livestock, Research Development Center, Regional Marketing Cooperative office, Regional Livestock Development Center, Regional Food Corporation of Bhutan, Samdrup Jongkhar and Dzongkhags, Lyonpo visited and launched several RNR activities.

29 October 2015: Enroute to Mongar, Lyonpo formally launched sheep restocking at Dungbithang sheep farm, Bumthang. The sheep in the farm was restocked with additional 246 native sheep taking the herd strength to 360. Such measure, according to Lyonpo, is expected to not only revive sheep farming but also conserve the genetic resources, offering wider choice of genetic materials for effective breeding and selection; and preserve and enrich the associated culture and tradition.

MoLHR Minister meets Australian Ambassador Patrick Suckling

Hon’ble Lyonpo Ngeema Sangay Tshempo was called on by the Australian Ambassador to Bhutan, H.E. Mr. Patrick Suckling at the Minister’s office today.

Hon’ble Minster and Ambassador discussed on the establishment of linkages with relevant institutes in Australia and also discussed about the possibility to venture in TVET sectors.



Thai Delegates called on Hon’ble Labour Minister

The delegates from Royal Thai Government led by Dr. Chaiyanun Sangma-kar, Director, Chonburi Technical College called on Hon’ble Minster, Ngeema Sangay Tshempo of MoLHR at Minister’s office this morning.

Hon’ble Minister extended a warm welcome to their visit to Bhutan. Dr. Chaiyanun Sangma-kar thanked and conveyed Lyonpo that he looked forward to developing close relations with Bhutan.

In the meeting, they had a discussion on various TVET activities, arts and crafts, skills development, especially in the areas of packaging technology, wood craving and metal work. Also discussed on recruitment of additional Bhutanese Graduates as English Teacher in all 420 Vocational Colleges under Office of Vocational Education Commission (OVEC) Ministry of Education, Thailand.

Further, they deliberated on instructor exchange program and skills development training for Bhutanese instructors in vocational colleges under OVEC, Thailand.
