Consecration of Jigme Wangchuck Power Training Institute (JWPTI)

Honorable Lyonpo, Ngeema Sangay Tshempo, Ministry of Labour and Human Resources graced the consecration ceremony of the Jigme Wangchuck Power Training Institute as the chief guest at the Technical Training Institute-Dekiling, Sarpang today.

The institute was built with the total funding assistance of Nu.332 million from the Government of India (GOI). Further, the GOI has committed to support JWPTI with Nu.337 million during the 11FYP to augment the existing institute into a Power Training Institute.

The institute was inaugurated by the President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee, during his historic state visit to Bhutan in November 2014 and it became operational since August last year.

25 February 2016: The team of Ministry of Education presents their Mid-Term review of 11th Five Year Plan (July 2013 – June 2015).
Sherig Lyonpo Mingbo Dukpa highlighted on some of the major achievements of MoE:

1. School Reform Programme initiated
2. Development of a 10 – year Bhutan Education Blueprint
3. Central Schools initiated (resource based autonomous boarding schools with a mandate to promote quality education)
As of 2015, 24 Central Schools have been established.
4. Autonomous schools initiated
5. Launch of Teacher Human Resource Policy 2014
6. Bhutan Education ICT Master Plan developed and implementation ongoing
7. Student Loan Scheme for Tertiary Education initiated in 2014
