The government is delighted to have brought about this major reform in our education system and being able to fulfill one of the key pledges presented to the people of Bhutan during the elections.
As the government has always asserted, the move to allow all Class X passed students to study in the Higher Secondary Schools came about following series of interactions with the people at the grassroots level and this is a genuine affair that we cannot ignore, if we are to enrich those who are deprived and disadvantaged. This significant change is a noble move that is timely and critical for our country. The government also understands that there are concerns being raised. Some of of the rational behind making this historical move in our education system are:
Lyonchhen attends the 2nd Foothills Festival.
Lyonchhen Dr Lotay Tshering, Lyonpo Karma D. Wangdi, Minister for Information and Communications and Lyonpo Yeshey Penjor, Minister for Agriculture and Forests attended the 2nd Foothills Festival in Gelephu, Sarpang from 29-30th January, 2019.
The second edition of the event saw programs slated for entire two days with display of varieties of livestock, agriculture, horticulture and food items along with entertainment programs from the 12 gewogs of Sarpang.
Reinstitution of the Committee of Secretaries
The Committee of Secretaries has been reinstituted with its inaugural session held today at Gyalyong Tshogkhang. The inaugural event was presided over by Venerable Tshulag Lopen, and attended by the Hon’ble Prime Minister and Hon’ble Foreign Minister.
