Hon’ble Prime Minister’s statement at the launch of South Asia Satellite (G-SAT9) by Government of India – Joint video conference of the SAARC Leaders held on 5 May 2017

Your Excellencies,

The launch of the South Asia Satellite today is an historic moment for the world. It is historic because this is the first time that a country has launched a satellite for the free use of its neighbors. The launch of this satellite is an impressive milestone in the history of the world; one that ushers in a new era of regional cooperation.

I congratulate the government and the people of India for successfully launching this important satellite, and would like to offer my thanks to their visionary leader, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for dedicating it for the common progress of all our countries in the South Asia region.

ADDRESS BY THE HON’BLE PRIME MINISTER on Inaugural session of the International Conference on Autism and Neuro-developmental Disorders Thimphu, 19 April 2017

Your Majesty the Queen,
Your Excellency Prime Minister Hasina,
Ladies and Gentlemen;

I wish to thank Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen for her kind presence at this International Conference on Autism and Neuro-development Disorder.

On behalf of the people and Royal Government of Bhutan I would like to welcome all the participants to this event, which we are honored to host along with our partners from Bangladesh – the Ministry of Health, the Shuchona Foundation and the World Health Organization. It is a wonderful co-incidence that the meeting is taking place in Thimphu during the autism awareness month, which is spearheaded by Her Majesty the Gyaltsuen every year on the 2nd of April. Hosting this conference is one more way to strengthen friendship between Bangladesh and Bhutan. This conference is also taking place in the week of the colorful Bengali New Year, POHELA BOISAKH that was on the 14th April. So let me begin by wishing everyone:

Lyonchhen’s speech delivered at the Inaugural of the 13th Round Table Meeting at the Royal Banquet Hall, Thimphu.

I have the honor of conveying you the warm greetings and the best wishes of His Majesty the King of Bhutan.

I want to welcome all the guests, from near and far. Some of you have come from across the world – the other side of the world – from New York, Geneva, Middle East and Thailand. I want to welcome each and every one of you and wish you a very happy stay and a successful deliberation here.

Your Excellency, Haoling Xu, Assistant Secretary General, Assistant Administrator of UNDP, Director of the Asia Pacific Region, I extend you a special welcome and thank you for agreeing to Co-Chair the 13th Round Table Meeting with His Excellency Lyonpo Damcho Dorji, the Foreign Minister.
