Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay and H.E. Begum Tarana Halim, MP, State Minister, Department of Post and Telecommunication, Bangladesh met at Gyelyong Tshogkhang this morning.

Welcoming H.E. Begum Tarana Halim to Bhutan Lyonchhen said that Her Excellency is a role model for women empowerment and poverty alleviation.  Conveying the best wishes of the President, Prime Minister and people of Bangladesh, Her Excellency shared that Bhutan is part of Bangladesh’s history and that the student there read about Bhutan in their history books. “ Bhutan was the first country to extend friendship and recognize Bangladesh’s independence,” she added.

PM signed the APA for Fiscal Year 2016-17

Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay singed the Annual Performance Agreement (APA) for fiscal year 2016-17 with the 10 Ministers, 20 Dzongdags, 4 Thrompons and 7 Heads of Autonomous Agencies today at the Convention Center.

Lyonchhen thanked all the officials involved for working hard for the last six months on the APA preparation for fiscal year 2016-17 and also in implementing APA 2015-16

Fiscal Year 2016-17 is the third year of APA implementation since the piloting year in fiscal year 2014-15

Lyonchhen also released the government calendar for fiscal year 2016-17 and the APA compendium for the last two fiscal years.

Lyonchhen called on President of Bangladesh

Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay called on to H.E. Mr. Md. Abdul Hamid, President, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh today at the Taj Tashi Hotel, Thimphu.

Condemning the terror attack in the Café in Bangladesh last night, Lyonchhen said that the act was unprecedented in the history of Bangladesh and complemented the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and its security forces for quick handling of the situation. “Nowhere in the world has terror attacks been resolved this quickly and efficiently,” Lyonchhen said. Lyonchhen wore a Green Gho today to show solidarity with the people of Bangladesh.
