A Non-Resident Bhutanese can avail the facility to open Foreign Currency (FC) Account with the authorised banks in Bhutan for the purpose of remitting savings and earnings to their own foreign currency account or to their relatives. The authorised banks are – Bank of Bhutan Ltd; Bhutan National Bank; T Bank and Druk PNB Bank Ltd.
Thanking the Royal Monetary Authority and the partner Banks at the launch of Remit Bhutan – Foreign Currency Account, this evening, Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay said that this arrangement will encourage savings and make transfer of money easer for Bhutanese living abroad. For the fist time in Bhutan, government to business services are going online and from now onward business people need not visit the Trade Office to apply or renew their business licenses. Speaking at the launch of 34 Government to Business (G2B) online services today, Lyonchhen said that the online services would greatly contribute in curbing corruption in the country since there is no human contact involved while delivering the required services.
Dasho Kinzang Wangdi, Cabinet Secretary handed over the 34 online G2B services and the User Manual to Dasho Yeshi Wangdi, Secretary of Ministry of Economics Affairs in the presence of Lyonchhen. Lyonpo Lekey Dorji and Lyonpo D.N Dhungyel were also present during this historic launch.
