The Government of India will provide Rs. 45 Billion to Bhutan’s 11th Five Year Plan

The Government of India will provide Rs. 45 Billion to Bhutan’s 11th Five Year Plan. This is the full amount requested by Bhutan for India’s funding.

In addition the Government of India will provide Rs. 5 Billion to Royal Government of Bhutan’s Economic Stimulus Package, as requested.

The Prime Minister of Bhutan, Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay with the Chairperson, National Advisory Council, Smt. Sonia Gandhi and the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, in New Delhi

This was conveyed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singhto Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay today during their meeting at the former’s official residence at 7 Race Course Road.

A Joint Press Statement to this effect has been issued by the two delegations.

Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgaytoday also called on the President of India, Mr.Pranab Mukherjee, the Vice-President, Mr. Mohammad Hamid Ansari and Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, Chairperson of United Progressive Alliance and President of the Indian National Congress.

The Prime Minister and Mrs. GushranKaur hosted a lunch in honour of Lyonchen and Aum Tashi Doma at their residence.

Earlier in the morning, the External Affairs Minister, Mr. Salman Khurshid called on Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay.
