H.E. Mr. Liu Zhenmin, Vice Foreign Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China arrived in the country yesterday.

H.E. Mr. Liu Zhenmin, Vice Foreign Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China arrived in the country yesterday leading an eight-member delegation. The delegation called on the Prime Minister, Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay at the Gyalyong Tshogkhang yesterday.

 

Conveying warm greetings to Lyonchhen from the people of China, Mr. Zhenmin said that it is of great satisfaction to see the two countries sharing closer ties with each other and having common views on further deepening the bond of friendship.

Mr. Zhenmin said that regardless of the absence of diplomatic ties, Bhutan and China have upheld political contacts, economic cooperation and people-to-people exchanges over the decades.

Hon’ble Lyonchhen commended on these engagements and thanked the Chinese delegation for visiting Bhutan soon after the formation of the new government. Lyonchhen said this visit was a testimony of active communication and friendly relationship between the two countries.

Lyonchhen said he looked forward to the 21st round of boundary talks scheduled on August 22 and hoped that it will result in a better understanding of ground realities and achieve a successful boundary demarcation.
