6 South Asian countries participated in the cross country championship
“Starting something new is never really easy. Congratulation to you and your team for organizing this event,” Dasho Tshering Tobgay, Lyonchhen said at 1st ever South Asian Cross Country Championship themed ‘Regional harmony through Athletics’.
6 South Asian countries of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka participated in the cross country championship where athletes participated in the 10kms(Male) and 8 kms(Female) race.
At the event, Lyonchhen expressed his gratitude to HRH Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck for his continued support to Team BAAF and the continued support to sports development in Bhutan.
Lyonchhen said that the stakes in today’s cross country race is really high as the winning records will be recorded as the south Asian record until the next South Asian Cross Country Championship.
In the mens category, Team India came first, followed by Team Sri Lanka and Team Bhutan consequetively. In the Female category, Team Sri Lanka came first, followed by Team India and Team Nepal.
