PM attended the opening of the 28th batch Desuung Program

Dasho Tshering Tobgay, Prime Minister attended the opening of the 28th batch Desuung Program this morning in Tencholing, Wangduephodrang.

Lyonchhen congratulated the 125 teachers enrolled for the 28th batch Dessungs program for realizing their role and becoming His Majesty’s Representative to the different sections of the society from today.
He said that the Dessungs program is a personal initiative of His Majesty the King and participating in the program meant a greater responsibility to uphold Their Majesty’s Vision and realizing their role as Dessungs as they are hereby entrusted to be the representatives of His Majesty.

Lyonchhen also thanked the teachers for participating in the Dessungs program and realizing the spirit of volunteerism. He said that Dessungs are the guardians of peace and their spirit of volunteerism are seen almost every where. He urged the teachers to take their role as teacher-Dessungs seriously and share their knowledge and skills in schools.

As of today, 857 teachers in the country undertaken the Dessungs program. Of the total 28 batches trained so far, this is the 7th batch of teacher desuups.

The Dessungs program was instituted as per the Command of His Majesty the King as a value based personal development program with the main objective to encourage all citizens to be active in the greater role of nation building.
The Dessungs program that through these training programmes all DeSuup trainees are expected to appreciate the sense of community, harmony and cooperation as a group and as active members of society.
The underlying premise of the training programme is built upon the spirit of “volunteerism “and the positive influence of ethics and values of community service, integrity and civic responsibility.
