Soon after arriving in Tokyo, Lyonchhen Jigmi Y Thinley met with the members and patronized the newly founded GNH Society in Japan. At the reception in Shinbashi, Tokyo, Lyonchhen congratulated the members for having set up such an association in Japan.

Bilateral meetings on the sidelines of UN General Assembly
Prime Minister Lyonchhen Jigmi Y Thinley had a series of bilateral meetings with several heads of states and governments at the UN headquarters in New York this week on the sidelines of the 66th UN General Assembly.
Lyonchhen Jigmi Y Thinley also attended a reception hosted by the US President Barack Obama for the heads of delegation and their spouses on September 21.
